Maya Vik
Maya Vik (born February 12, 1980) is a "Norwegian Grammy" (Spellemannprisen) winning 〔http://monteemusic.com/?p=324〕 singer, songwriter, and bass player from Norway. Her father, Per Kristian Vik (27 August 1947) is an athlete who specialized in the high jump and ranks #11 〔http://www.gbrathletics.com/nc/nori.htm〕 in the country with a record that hasn’t been beaten since 1975. Growing up in the small town of Os just outside of Bergen, Maya bought a guitar when she was 14 and started learning to play. Ultimately, Maya’s sister was her biggest influence on music and introduced her to the songs of Janet Jackson, Prince, Michael Jackson, etc. Two years later, Maya switched to playing the bass at age 16.
